Trump is a Demagogue

He is a “leader" who has obtained his power by means of impassioned appeals to the emotions and prejudices of a certain segment of the population; the segment which refuses to see the truth of the crisis that our country is hurtling toward, as fast as we can.

Dangerous and crazy times have plagued us since the inauguration of Donald Trump.  I cannot, for the life of me, call this mentally unstable man baby, president.  He does not qualify for any title of such significance.  Trump is a continuous disgrace to this great nation.  Make America Great Again, is a slogan that isn’t befitting of any actions taken by this tumultuous and  inept administration.

Trump has pulled back on so many important regulations.  He says that he does not believe in climate change.  I think that this is just another lie, intended to divert our attention from the fact that he is heading up a purposeful destruction of the United States of America, if not the entire world.  Putin and other white supremacists are in accord with this.  They think that outer space will save them, after they have carried out their plans for world wide white supremacy.  It won’t.  They won’t get that far.  I believe that Humanity Rules!   Hence, the silly idea of starting a special space program is so off base, that it is another stupid idea from this self proclaimed dictator.  The Air Force already has a division dedicated to the space program.

What the heck is going on?  They are demonic!  Trump, Bannon, Stephen Miller and many others, in and of this administration, are hell bent on destroying the administrative state.  Bannon even stated that, “We won’t get this country back without a fight.”

The Kavanaugh confirmation hearings has a woman, Zina Bosh, sitting directly behind Kavanaugh, flashing signs of white supremacy (no matter how the Trump(ians) try to spin it).  This has been the second day in the Kavanaugh hearings and it has been the second day for the white supremacy flashings from Zina Bosh.  Why does no one object to this?  What are the Democrats and responsible Republicans thinking of?  Our elected officials have let us down.  We are in a perilous state.

Bob Woodward’s book, Fire, has just been the tip of the iceberg.  A high official in the Trump administration, has just published an op-ed, in the New York Times, under an anonymous name.  He, or she, has said that Trump is amoral.  Fire and Fury, by Michael Wolff, states the same anomalous behavior.

Somethings are really wrong.

Flint: An American Tragedy

The water situation in Flint, Michigan, could have been avoided.

Michael Moore's "10 Things They Won't Tell You About The Flint Water Tragedy. But I Will",  tells us what's happening in Flint.  He chronicles the problems from the onset until now.  I won't even try to paraphrase his facts, but I will endorse his conclusions.

The facts are that Governor Rick Snyder nullified free elections in Flint, deposed the mayor and city council, and appointed his man to run the city.  Money saving thoughts dictated decisions, rather than the quality of people's lives.   Greed rears its ugly head again, so it was decided by this Governor Snyder appointee, to unhook Flint, Michigan's water from Lake Huron and switch the hook up to the Flint River.

All concerned parties knew that the Flint River was toxic, and that it had been toxic for years, yet they still went ahead with this directive.  General Motors, complained that the Flint River was corroding their car parts.  They were given a special hook up to Lake Huron water.  All the while, the children of Flint were still drinking the poisoned water from the Flint River.  Despicable actions, which led to this catastrophic outcome.  To think that all of this could have been avoided is reprehensible.

All this could have been prevented?   Michael Moore says it would have cost one hundred dollars a day for three months, nine thousand dollars.  Human lives are priceless.  I'm aghast.

There has been a return of an intense outbreak of Legionnaires Disease which has occurred since the water has become contaminated.  Other toxins have been found.  What other toxins will be found?  I am afraid for the citizens of Flint.

I'm hurt that these poor people, who have what I have, and that is nothing but their homes, and now this one asset is worth nothing.  To have worked an entire life time to come to the realization that your one asset is worthless, must be heartbreaking.   To realize that you and your family are in jeopardy of dying, has to be the most hopeless and empty of feelings.  To realize that you live on toxic land is frightening, beyond belief.  It sounds like the Twilight Zone.

It is unthinkable to believe that during all of this, the Flint citizens have also had to endure military exercises that did involve bombings, in the derelict neighborhoods.  The audacity of our military leaders.

Lake Huron is the third largest body of fresh water in the world.  Formed over ten thousand years ago, it is still fed by pure underground springs.  Flint citizens, geographically, should not be drinking poisoned water.

They come for my brother today, they will surely come for me tomorrow; or something like that.

Michigan State owes these people money for purposes of immediate relocation.  The citizens of Flint have to leave.  Their land is toxic.  No one is doing anything really effective, so they have to leave.  Other compensation monies can be determined at a later date, although I don't know what value can be placed on a future of possible dysfunctional children and adults, with all types of illnesses.  Enough damage has been done.

Governor Snyder should be arrested!

The richest country in the world and this happens.  I'm saddened.  We seem to be more worried about Brussels, Belgium, than Flint, Michigan.  What the heck?

Desperate People

Why is it that when people run out of friends, and they are old, they begin to latch on to people who they think are weak?  Why didn't they think ahead?  What made them not know?  Lifetimes of relationships build security in old age.

Some people have not been true to their children, friends, or to themselves.  What could they have been thinking when they were doing everything that they wanted to do?

What were they thinking when I was getting up each morning to go to work, while they slumbered in their beds.  They  made fun of me.  Wonder if they remember?

You dated other people's husbands and wives.  You thought this was okay?  You raised,  or didn't raise your children to be what they could not help but be.  They have to think that this is  a cold world.  Are you surprised?

I'm not.  You reaped and you have sown.  Leave me alone!

Successful People

A successful person is one who gets up daily, bathes and dresses.  If breakfast is eaten, all the better.  Midday and evening repasts, as well as the prayer you need, are tandem to your dreams.

If these things are considered and sometimes, most times executed, you are successful.  If by chance, you manage to add doing something for someone or for some thing, then you are worthy of respect; and you are, most assuredly, a winner.

Rumpelstiltskin

Never forget the story of the little man who spun gold for the promise of things to come.  After having being duped by her father, the miller's pretty young daughter, in turn, duped the strange little man whom she charmed into trusting her.  As you may recall, the young maiden was supposed to have had the artistry to spin straw into gold.  Of course, this couldn't be done. Yet, after the little man heard the crying of the young, pretty maiden, he offered to spin the straw into gold for her, in exchange for things of no real importance.  Alas, the magical little man demanded a price that was too high.  The former damsel in distress was to be married to the king if she could complete the last straw spinning task,  which would also assure the king of being married to the richest person in his kingdom.  The pretty young maiden readily agreed to give her firstborn to this funny little man.  It was the price he asked for helping her this last time.  Okay, done!  It seemed to be a win-win situation.

The avaricious king traded gold for a rich marriage; one of convenience.  The maiden was willing to trade her first born child for the spun gold.  The little man traded his spun gold for a misplaced trust in the superficiality of the pretty young maiden. He spun the straw into gold because she had given him her word that she would, indeed, forfeit her first born child to him.  Annie Lennox told us that "everybody's looking for something".

The little man found himself in quite the predicament when the queen's loyal servant discovered the little man's secret; his most prized and highly guarded possession-his most unusual name.  Rumpelstiltskin stomped himself into the floor, cutting his right leg off at the knee; then seizing his left foot with both his hands, he furiouly split himself in two, "and there was an end of him."

Poor Rumpelstiltskin.  Poor us.  Were the Brothers Grimm on to something?  Have we trusted too much and spoken too soon?  Did we celebrate the election of a kinder, more decent administration prematurely?  Are we doomed for self-destruction?  I think we are, if we, as a democracy, regardless the party, don't act to stop the taking of the gold without the deliverance of past promises.  Promises that will prove beneficial to the republic that just completed the voting process, electing who we thought was best for our glorious country.  We need a more equitable society and we need it now.

"let them eat cake"

Republicans have a "let them eat cake" attitude.  I believe they lost because of this viewpoint.  They should watch the latest Marie Antoinette movie.  Perhaps it would refresh their memories regarding their antiquated ideas about today's society.  History really does not have to repeat itself.  We are intelligent beings who should learn from history's mistakes, not repeat them.

Chris Matthews reminded me of a quote from The Great Gatsby: "And as I sat there brooding on the old, unknown world, I thought of Gatsby's wonder when he first picked out the green light at the end of Daisy's dock.  He had come a long way to this blue lawn, and his dream must have seemed so close that he could hardly fail to grasp it.  He did not know that it was already behind him, somewhere back in that vast obscurity beyond the city, where the dark fields of the republic rolled on under the night.   Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us.  It eluded us then, but that's no matter-to-morrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther....And one fine morning--So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past."

This says it all about today's Republican Party.  They are quickly becoming obsolete, but they have the gold, so they rule.  Their rules and ideologies will live on, I'm afraid, because they still maintain power. Power  over the lives of the people whether we have spoken or not.  The pie is large enough for all, but too many wealthy men don't want to share even slivers of the  pie.  They continue to divert the attention of the uninformed to nonsensical issues, hoping the masses will look at the nonsensical instead of at what all of us should be doing to correct the inequities in the system, as they exist today.

America is in dire need of tax reform and other imminent things like attention to the needs of the sacred earth we all live on.  I hope that we all are very clear on what's really important and move forward towards these solutions.

Republicans and their Obstacles to Justice

Republicans and their voter suppression laws and voter id's suggest to me that they want to revert back to an earlier, uglier period in American history. Back to a past where black people were expected to guess correctly the number of jellybeans in a jar before being allowed to vote. We all know what happened there? Frankly, these inspired by greed and evil machinations to block the vote for some of us, still, are frightening to me. Why would any sane individual willingly want to go back to those days? Who still, in America, wants to have this kind of control over another? Who would still spew these exhortations to the populace? Who, indeed? The longer this 2012 campaign ensued, the closer we neared the risk of having an uncaring administration in charge of this wonderfully brave and beautiful ideal of a country. A group of people who had already clearly expressed their giving "less than a tinker's damn" about the average American. The middle class would surely be headed toward annihilation. Now after the republic has spoken, the GOP still wants to ignore our wishes and needs. It is continuing business as usual. What a shame for our country as the world watches while this supposed democracy begins to splinter because a certain group of wealthy men refuse to compromise. Too bad all the young people who are encouraged to engage in reasonable conversations with one another instead of fighting, are bearing witness to the shenanigans of our illustrious congressional members. Too bad we still bother stressing the importance of conflict resolution to our young, when a lot of the supposedly mature leaders of our country are acting like recalcitrant children. maverickchild 11/29/12

Following Still

I am really tired of people who don't use their brains.  The upcoming presidential election is really showing off some people's stupidity level.  Others are just plain lying.  I really hope that the masses can discern what is wrong and what is right.  Just take the unfair tax rate.  Think about it folks.  Why aren't we all rebelling in some way?  This is so obviously unfair.

There are so many other obvious distortions.  I mean for our president to be called stupid is enough to send me into a tailspin.  Now, he isn't even being given credit for finding and killing America's most deadly enemy.  Come on now people; think for yourselves.  Stop listening to the rantings of fools.

Mensa Baby

I haven't blogged in almost a year.  Why?  I had much to do and so little time.

The Mensa baby, the youngest member to be inducted into this brainy society, is 1 month shy of her third birthday.

They touted on May 3, 2012,  that this wonderfully gifted baby could read.

I immediately went to the video, anxious to see this child read.  What I saw was that the baby could call the letters and pronounce the word.

The trouble is the picture of the word is directly beneath the word.  "Whoa, wait just a tooting minute.  My two year old grand baby can do this and has been doing this same thing since the age of 2 years, three months".

I taught her her letters and numbers.  She could immediately identify the letters, then the word that accompanied the letters because of the picture directly below or above the word.  I never saw this as reading, just as a really fast recognition of letters and patterns.  These skills are considered pre-reading ones.  This just means that my granddaughter is really ready for reading, but I don't say that she is reading.

Mensa folk, I know that you know this too.  So what else is qualifying this child for a Mensa membership?

All in the name of clear communication,

KC

Kansas City Missouri.  What's going on here?   Is there something I am missing?  My family and I went there for a Ben Harper concert this past weekend.   It took place at Crossroads Grinder.  For me, this was a terrible venue, but it was an excellent concert.  Ben Harper and his warm-up group, the Revolution were superb.  Ben Harper, Ben Harper, Ben Harper...what can I say, except Genius.

Kansas City, on the other hand, appears to be a big plantation city.  The downtown is completely devoid of black folk.  I felt lonely.  I am sixty-six years old and I felt lonely for my people in Kansas City Missouri.  I am shocked at the way downtown KC has restructured itself to be urban white.  The Negroes who work in the city are slow moving and placid.  I stayed at the Hyatt Regency.  They screwed up my room reservations.  I was pissed, but I conformed.  The guests and staff were nice enough.

When my family and I visited Crown Center, we saw a miniscule of black sisters and brothers.  I was frankly, appalled.  The shopkeepers were mostly okay, even though my family and I were followed by security when we shopped in the Crayola store.  The sales people there were nervous and seemed uncertain when I wanted to exchange a pack of crayons for a larger more expensive pack of crayons.  My granddaughter who is almost two,  still needs the jumbo size of crayon.  I found a sixteen count crayon in jumbo and skylight colors.  Boy was I excited.  I have never landed upon this many jumbo crayons and in a great colors, too.  I called out to my husband to wait, but he had already checked out.  I hurried to the checkout counter and pulled out my money to purchase the sixteen count crayons.  My husband, who is a cheapskate by nature, asked the saleslady if he could exchange the regular eight pack that he had just purchased, along with some very nice coloring and activity books.  The saleslady appeared confused and turned to ask, who I guessed was her supervisor.  It was then that I noticed the security guard, looking fierce and ready to draw what I then saw was his gun.  I could have cried. I told the dumb clerk that it was okay and that I would pay for the new found crayons separately.  It was no need to void a ticket and retrace the transaction.  The smugly stupid supervisor smiled and the guard relaxed.  All of us smiled and somehow as if in a conspiracy, we made my thrifty husband the fool.  I wanted to protest, but could not muster up the strength.  After all, I was on a weekend vacation.  I wanted a time-out too.  America, I am so tired of you.  I am so embarrassed too.  I turned immediately into a complacent slave. I did not want to cause trouble.  I'll go to my grave regretting this.

Kansas City Missouri did this to me, again. Why?  Why are there no black people in downtown Kansas City Missouri?   Why did Crossroads want to check my purse twice?  Why were we not told to go to another  line to enter the concert after it was determined that we had all the right credentials?   The white folk just ahead of us were told.  We evidently were invisible.  How insulting! Why was I, a sixty-six year old black lady, asked to provide identification showing proof of drinking age? Things are strange in Kansas City Missouri.  The black folk have given up on their city.  They even walk and act like it.  They do walk and act slowly.  They might as well shuffle.

Obsolete

Many people my age have automatically become out of date.  Most everyone uses at least one form of modern technology, if no more than a cell phone, but many seniors are still getting left behind.  Many look and sound too proud as they say, " I don't even know how to turn it on", when asked about their knowledge of, or use of the computer.  I am sixty-six years old and am so grateful that I have tried my best to keep  up with computer dynamics.  I have not yet mastered many other forms of technological communication devices or games, but I have strived to maintain at least a working knowledge of the computer as it has advanced through the ages.  I am no great technician, but I at least know where to get computer help.  I know at least enough to ask the right questions and give the correct answers when asked something vital to proper repair.  Gifted technicians ease this information from those of us who are trying our best to work with them.

I had such a wonderful experience this past weekend with AT&T technical help.  I thought I'd write to other old geezers like me who don't think that computer literacy is important.  It is.  Watch how it is creeping up (knocking the heck out of ) on us.  Almost every transaction we make asks for an e-mail address.  If we can't provide one, we are usually directed to a very circuitous route which leaves us far more frustrated than pleased.  We cannot get left behind.  Those of us who are still pretty much in our right minds have to continue learning everything we can, daily, especially for the sake of our financial obligations.  We have to become and stay computer literate.

Love,
Eva

Nothing you can do

Sometimes, no matter what you do, life is hard.  These past few weeks have been almost hellish.  Nothing I do turns out right.  There have been too many things that have been totally out of my control.  What the heck?  Oh well, this too shall pass.

The weather is not even cooperating.

Believe it or not, I just almost lost this post.  I had to log out, then in, then accidentally found a tab that allowed me access to this draft.  Wow!  I'm going to bed with the eternal hope that tomorrow will be so much better.  I'd settle for just a tiny bit better.  Love You, God.

Satistifaction

What does it mean to be satisfied?  I certainly don't know.  Yet I know many people who seem to know.  They tell me that they are happy.  They tell me that they are successful.  They tell me that their love life is really good.  I, of course, wonder.  Satisfaction is transient.  It is evasive.  How is it that they capture this essence ?  For sure, how do they seemingly, with their answers, capture satisfaction or happiness forever.  They are Liars.

Quiet Time

There's a lot to be said for solitude.  It gives me the chance to think about things.  All things.  I think about the good, the bad and yes, the ugly.  This way, I allow myself to see points of view that in haste, I may have missed.    Many times, I do say that I wish I could revisit this or that decision.  Fortunately time has moved on and it isn't a darn thing that can be done about what has passed.  The now is where I come back to with a more centered, more focused outlook on my wonderful life.

What's Going On?

What the heck is going on?  My bank had an outage yesterday.  I couldn't pay my bills.  The last thing I need is to be late with the bills I have.  Is there a conspiracy against me?  I don't mean to sound crazy, but what the heck?  I have the money to pay, but the bank shuts down.  Oh well.

There is a change coming.  I can feel it.  I am determined to remain positive.  Things will work out okay.  God is still in charge.  I still have more blessings than anything else.  I am still loved by my family and friends and I still love them.  What more can I ask?

Hope all of you are having an okay time.

Broke and Sad

What the heck is going on?  The older I get the less money I have.  Why is my social security being taxed?  Wasn't this taxed once?  Maybe I am confused.  My pension does not keep up with the cost of living.  My utilities are steady going up.  My funds are not.  Why can't someone come up with extra money for senior citizens?  I am still paying for able bodied people who have decided to make welfare a way of life.  I know, because there are several bums in my own family.  Shouldn't there be an additional income for those of us seniors who need a little help?  I am really pissed off, but more than that, I'm sad and broke.

Valentine for Nigga

I can't say Nigga' cause it makes you uncomfortable?  It makes you squirm?  Well, white man, this world is very much about discomfort.  Living life is about moving out of our comfort zones.  I don't mean to make you uncomfortable, when I use my word, Nigga.  I am not even thinking of you.  I love the word Nigga, as we Niggas apply it to ourselves.

You see, I've been trying for a while now, to figure out how the use of this word by us Niggas concerns you?  You wouldn't insult another race by, let's say, calling the Italians Dagos, or calling a person of Hispanic heritage a Spic.  Why then do you, of all people,  persist in being able to call members of the black race a Nigga?  African Americans can and do use Nigga amongst ourselves.  God knows, we have earned the right.  It is us and it is our choice.

Many of you still call us niggers whenever you are without a "nigger in sight."  Give me a break.  What sense does this make, Mr. White Man?  What business is it of yours what I say?  I really don't and can't censure what you say.   It's simple.  Just don't say Nigga in front of African Americans.

There are so many endearing and sensitive memories attached to our word, Nigga.  No, you would not understand.  You really can't understand how we, as an oppressed people, took a word meant to humble and humiliate us, and turn it into our version of love, connection,  and yes, sometimes hate, but not so much on our part, as you pretend to think.

You called us niggers from the time we set foot on this American soil.  What's your point now?  Is it to show the world that you can still control our thinking?  The world may succumb to your desires and tricks as you attempt to clean up the shit you have begun.  I won't let you take my language, hence my culture, away from me again.

You, white man, need to understand that African Americans do not want you to say Nigga to us, or on your public media.  Only African Americans can call one another Nigga.  You just need to learn to control your urges to say this word.  You need to really examine your feelings about this word.  Examine your motives for not wanting me,  the "nigger," to use my own connotation of this word in my world.  You need to control your guilt and your jealousies.  You definitely can not control me.
